Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat.

There seems to be a few "trees" on Ancestry that have lots of information listed that match the details you have provided here.
I take you are not a member, but you could sign up for a month and get the information then cancel the membership later.  ;D

I am a member as of today and not proficient in the use of the site.  A search turned up 3 results including my own post.  The other two were unrelated.

Found this which appears to be about his family in Virginia.

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=ann_blomquist&id=I19030

There appears to be loads of things on internet about various members of a Taylor family born in Pennington castle, nr Carlisle, emigrating to Virginia but it seems very muddled and some info appears very dubious.  As far as I'm aware there is no Pennington Castle near Carlisle.  There is a place near Barrow called Pennington and there are the Pennington family from Mulcaster Castle which seems to have somehow become entwined with the Taylor family. One reference even refers to this Castle being near Carlisle, Cumberland (now Warwickshire) :o ::)

Try using the details of his wife (Martha) Rebecca Tomlin 1615 Kent. It should give you all the trees I mentioned.
Goerge's place of birth is given as Cambridgeshire but other than that it all matches your stuff.

Good Luck

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.  The links that turned up from George - 1615 to his parents seem pretty weak.  A name that keeps coming up is Gary and the occasional James, Nicholas, George (which seems unlikely at 1615 George has a George Jr in VA), Thomas.
So does it kinda come down to the most corroborating trees?
Gan Yam - Great info.  Thank you.  That link does not work for me for some reason.
Thanks again for everyone's help.  I am very grateful for any hints, tips or ticks you guys can provide as I am a newbie to this.

Just a caution with Ancestry.  Many of the Trees are not "substantiated" and some people tend to just copy details without checking the facts for themselves, but it does give you a starting point to go forward with.

Good Luck
