I was talking about the 1733 of your Robert to Plesent Mountley.

If you look at FreeREG, old Site, search Mee Marriages 1733, Leics, the 2 Marriages I mentioned (Robert Mee/Rebecca Mee ) come up.

I’ve been doing a bit more digging on this line and it looks like Robert may have had a brother called William

My ancestor Robert Mee married Pleasant Mountney in Prestwold in 1733. In the will of John Mountney, dated 1726  (Pleasant’s father), he mentions a Sarah Mee wife of William Mee and there is a marriage of William Mee and Sarah Mountney in Barrow on Soar in 1722.  So it looks like two brothers may have married two sisters.

So what I am after now, if anyone has access to Barrow on Soar records, any information on William & Sarah.  Did they have any children and are there any Mee burials recorded at Barrow.

Thanks
Carol

Hi Diddy

I would appreciate a Barrow on Soar look up - Thanks

I have Prestwold PR's on CD so no need to look at that.

Thanks very much

Leics Igi possible baps:

Robert Mee  s/o William 2/3/1705 Shepshed - However this Robert seems to remain in Shepshed as I found a marriage  to a sarah cooper.

Robert Mee 19/5/1708 Diseworth s/o Thomas & Audrey
Robert Mee 5/8/1709 Diseworth s/o Robert & Dorothy **

** I favour this one as I also found William Mee 7/12/1705 Diseworth s/o Robert & Dorothy.

Baps Barrow on Soar 1700 - 1717 no Mees.
Diseworth Prs no Baps at all listed between 1665 - 1739.

I assume you have the children of Robert & Pleasant which I confirm from the transcribed Prestwold Prs as Mary, Elizabeth, Robert & John.

MI's for Barrow:
John Mee 1749 - 1800 & his wife Mary 1750 - 1811

MI's for Prestwold:
Benjamin Mee of Burton Bandalls died suddenly on 15/5/1827 in his 76th year. Also Ann, widow of Benjamin died 18/9/1838 aged 85 years.

William Mountney son of late John Mountney of Burton Bandalls died 39/1746 aged 49. Rebekah wife of William died 20/12/1732 in her 34th year. Also nearby lie bodies of Elizabeth, Mary & Daniel, son & daughters of William & Rebekah sho died in their minority.

John Mountney of Burton Bandalls died 26/2/1726 aged 60 years. Also nearby Ann his wife who died 30/11/1741 aged 73 years.

Mary wife of Thomas Mountney of Burton Bandalls died 22/8/1737 aged 26 years.

Also found a later Pleasant Mountney bap 15/6/1772 d/o Bartholomew & Mary Barrow on Soar. so name seems to carry on.

Hi Diddy

Thanks very much, you have certainly given me something to work on.

I'd also dismissed the Sheshed Robert, but the Diseworth information sounds very promising. I notice there are a few wills for the Mee's of Diseworth including one for Robert dated 1740, so I will send for that one to start with.

I will work my way through your other information to see where it all fits in.

Thanks again for your time and help.  It's really appreciated

as a result of this thread, I was contacted by another Mee researcher for the Diseworth area.

After several emails we visited the Diseworth Heritage centre (see new post on resources board). The lady was brilliant & gave a history of place // guided tour & sorted out resources for us to look at.

She is going to call a meeting of all interested Mee family at the centre in January 2017. Already done this for various other local names very successfully.
She has my contact details & I will post anything I hear.
