It is possible to search it without a subscription using dates of birth though I can't see a likely candidate at the moment.

Was he married to your gt grandmother, if so where and when did they marry

He married Eugenie Maggie Taylor on April 12th?, 1915. I believe it was in Warwick but I'll have to double check. In 1939 they would have had 3 children, Marjorie, Bessie, and Noel (George Noel), and possibly Maggie's niece, Freda. Marjorie was born in 1912 so it's possible she didn't live with them in 1939.

They were married in Warwick on April 12th, 1915. He states he is 30 years old which would make his birth year 1884. I'm not sure anyone really knew in which year he was born.

I cannot find George On the 1939 Register but i found Eugenie Marjorie Dunn Jenkins is living with Maggie (Eugenia) Dunn and 3 other people. I can't see those people because I have to pay for it. Marjorie was his daughter and her husband's last name was Jenkins. I'm assuming the 3 other people would be my grandad, George Noel, possibly their other daughter Bessie, and possible Freda. George had been a service seaman so maybe he was off on a ship at this time. He would have been a bit older then though so perhaps not.

Hi

You won't see the other 3 even with a subscription as they are probably still living, they are blacked out on the online register.   George would not appear if he was in the forces.

I'm not sure who it would be if they are still living. Freda is the only one who is possibly still alive. All the other children have long passed. It's very interesting but very frustrating.

A lot of 'dead' people still appear on the register. FindMyPast is trying to open them where possible.  They will open them if a death certificate is provided but it will cost if you don't have a sub for FindMyPast

You can now search the birth indexes at www.gro.gov.uk and include the mothers maiden name on entries before 1911. I couldn't find any entries from 1872 to 1890.

Looking at the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census Edwin & Betsy weren't blessed with any children before George in an age where lots of children would have been expected to be there.

Have a look at the 1911 census image not just the transcription.

If George was 'informally' adopted, this would have been before adoption became part of the legal system in 1927 and unless you can find his name from other sources, it's highly unlikely you will get further back on this line.
