Whatever happened to Charles Richmond Freeman

Charles Richmond Freeman was born Q4 1874 in St Ives, Hunts to parents James Lenton Freeman (1848-1907 and Eleanor Freeman (née Freeman) (1849-1898).

He appears on:
the 1881 census (Globe Place, St Ives), with his parents grandfather, mother and siblings.
the 1891 census (Globe House, Globe Place, St Ives), with his mother and siblings (his father is elsewhere - I've not tracked him down)
the 1901 census (Cemetery Rd, St Ives, next door to his now married sister, Clara Lenton Moulton).

On the 1901 census, he appears to be shown as a widower and has two sons living with him: Walter S Freeman (age illegible, but presumably older than the next) and Harry T Freeman, age 15, so born c. 1886 in St Ives.
The two "sons" must be sons from his wife's previous marriage as he would have only been 12 when Harry T Freeman was born are actually his brothers.

The 1901 census raises three two questions, I've not been able to answer:
1) If it really says he's a widower, who and when did he marry?  Presumably between 1891 and 1901.
2) When did his wife die?
3) What were the "sons" original names, and when were they born?

Charles Richmond Freeman just disappears after the 1901 census. I can't see a possible death for him.  (though might have missed it!), so my final question is

4) What happened to Charles Richmond Freeman after the 1901 census?

If anyone fancies have a look at this, I'd be very grateful.

Walter and Harry are enumerated as sons of Eleanor in 1891 - therefore brothers of Charles?

You say Charles is with his parents in 1881, but in fact Eleanor and the children (including Charles and baby Walter) are with her father-in-law James Freeman.

Oh Lordy. I'm sorry. I've been looking at this chap so long over the last couple of days, I'd forgotten the two 1901 sons are actually brothers and that the James on 1881 is f-i-l not husband.  The husband (Charles Richmond's Freeman's father), James Lenton Freeman, is missing from the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses. James Lenton Freeman died 17 Dec 1907 in Islington.

I've been driving myself round in circles obviously. 

But I'm positive that I still can't find him after 1901.

I can't find him there myself, but have you tried searching in Canada, where Walter and Harry ended up? 
Harry Trevelyan Freeman died in 1911 in North Bay, Nipissing, Ontario (familysearch), and Walter S Freeman (who married Gertrude Petty in Southampton district in 1901) appears in the same area in the 1911 Canada census with Gertrude and family.

Yes I looked on familysearch for him in Canada, but couldn't see him, though there are a few Charles Freemans without middle initial.

There's a Charles R Freeman death in Surrey in 1941, but that's not him: it's a Charles Richard Freeman, whom other records confirm to have a separate existence in/around Guildford

His father James Lenton Freeman, widower age 55 of cattle market, Islington married Robina Mavish Hill aged 18 of Hemingford Gray on 24 Dec 1903 at Islington St Mary's by licence.
