British and Irish soldiers at the hopital des invalides in Paris

Earlier this year I found the following link with soldiers who lived or died at the "hôpital des invalides" in Paris between 1673 and 1796.

There are not only soldiers who came from France, Belgium, Germany or Switzerland, but also soldiers who came from England, Scotland or Ireland.

So I thought maybe it's interesting for some people here on rootschat too.

The problem is that the surnames and place names are wrong written or mistranscribed. So it can be very difficult to find the person you are searching for.

If you search for an Irish man you could try it only with the word "irlandois", but only 30 results will show up, even if there are 100 oder 500 men from Ireland.

You will find the following information: Name of his military unit, why he was in the hospital, place/battle where he was wounded, sometimes also date and place of death (which helps to find his death entry in France).

The language used back then is old French, but I can understand it so I could help with translation.

It is very interesting. I just had a quick look.
I tried a search using the county and that was useful. I haven't any need for it but hopefully it will help some rootschatters - and it is just so interesting anyway!

Yes you can also search with the name of a county, but you will have the same problem: It will only show up the entries for 30 men, even if there are more men from this county in the database.
