Looks like Chapmantown near Castle Douglas, but I don't know if there is such a place.

I would have said Chapeltown / Chapwelltown but like arthurk I dont know the area well enough to know if such a place existed.  Would definitely say it was Castle Douglas though.  It might be useful to see the whole image to try and piece it together.

Looks like there is a farm called Chapmanton to the north of Castle Douglas.

Maybe this is written as toun rather than town but a bit blurred.

I was just by there a couple of weeks back. Many of my maternal side came from that area  :)
