Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Fantastic, many thanks folks 6.45pm here on Tuesday 18/10 I've been working on AUL cotton mills and occupations for members of the family, but can't quite figure what a 'cotton  operative' was up to,  could someone help there please.

Ask Mr Google about Cotton Operatives - there are a number of items related to the Cotton Operatives in Manchester, and a number of illustrations.

Basically the operatives were the men, women and/or children who operated the spinning or weaving looms in a cotton mill.
