Recent Marriage St Philip's Weston Mill
« on: Tuesday 18 October 16 07:17 BST (UK) »
Could anyone tell me if it's possible to find any details about a marriage in 1960
at Weston Mill? ... (apart from buying the cert)

I know it's recent so wont be putting names online but happy to share by PM if that helps.

Thanks folks

Di

Hi I would say you would need to purchase the marriage certificate

You could ask Devon Heritage Centre.  However, I think rosie17 is probably correct.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks rosie17 & BumbleB - I thought that might be the case but as I'd seen transcriptions on FindMyPast I was hoping that someone somewhere may have seen the originals.
Maybe Devon FHS might be able to help  :-\

Devon Family History Society certainly did the transcriptions, and the data source appears to be South West Heritage Trust.

Thanks BB - any idea if the South West Heritage Trust actually holds copies of the parish registers?

I just wanted to confirm a father's name on a marriage so I was hoping for a full transcription or at least a record with more detail than FindMyPast.

It looks like Devon Heritage Centre is part of South West Heritage Trust.

e-mail  devonarchives at swheritage.org.uk
Tel:  01392 384253

Or go to www.swheritage.org.uk/devon-archives where there is a contact form to complete.
