Thomas Copeland (1832 - ????)
« on: Tuesday 18 October 16 11:03 BST (UK) »
Thomas Copeland was my 2nd great grandfather.
I have tracked down most of his documented life, but am unable to find a death index entry in order to obtain a death certificate.

Can anyone tell me where and when he died?

He last appeared in the 1881 Census, and the 1891 Census recorded his wife Margaret Copeland (née Murphy) as a widow. So he died between 1881 and 1891.
The following is what I know about him, culled from parish registers and census returns.

Birth: 29 Feb 1832 in Gateshead, County Durham, England
Baptism: 21 Mar 1832 in St Mary, Gateshead, County Durham, England
Residence: 1855 in South Rise, Gateshead, County Durham, England
Census: 1861 in 4 Bishopgate Street, St Mary Bishophill Senior, York, Yorkshire, England Occupation: 1861 ; Moulder

Census: 1871 in Thynnes Yard, Gateshead, County Durham, England
Residence: 1881 in 63 High Street, Newburn, Northumberland, England
Occupation: 1881 ; Iron moulder
Census: 1881 in High St, Newburn, Northumberland, England Death: Bet. 1881–1891

Marriage: 06 Sep 1855 in Register Office, Gateshead, County Durham, England
Children: Margaret Mary Copeland, Thomas Copeland, Rose Copeland, Cecilia Copeland, Agnes Copeland, Charles Copeland, Charles Thomas Copeland.

Always happy to pool information with those with a shared interest.

On the offchance that he may have died in Scotland (nearest country considering he doesn't appear to have died in England & Wales) I had a look on Scotland's People.

There was a possible for the age and death year date range.
Copeland Thomas age 55 died in 1887 in Camlachie District, Glasgow

I recently got a very nice present of a shed load of Scotland's People credits so looked at the image to see.
Thomas Copeland, Iron Moulder- Journeyman (married to Margaret Murphy)
