Hi Hallmark,
Thanks  for your last message.
I can confirm that the link you have specified, is to the website from which I obtained the original information.

Galway Town is where I expected the birth to have taken place.
My concern is of the 10 birth on the page 5 appear to be at Fair Hill.
So If Fair Hill is a Street in Galway Town there were a lot of births in that Street

As for the Townland of Fairhill, it appears to be 26 miles from Galway Town and 17 miles from Tuam and therefore I would have thought that the Townland of Fairhill is more likely to be in the Tuam Registration District rather than Galway Registretion District.

I will go with your statement that FairHill is a Street in Galway Town.
Thanks for your help

Districts of Galway No. 1, Galway No. 2, Moycullen and Oranmore shall be amalgamated

Moycullen..  http://www.logainm.ie/en/1413947?s=Moycullen

So, Galway City !

There's Fair Hill Rd in the Cladagh, which is south west part of Galway city!

Hi Bairbre,
Many thanks to your reply to my original message

I am lookimg at a page of 10 birth registrations; six of them refer to the place of Fair Hill, and 2 of them refer to the place of Claddagh spelt with a 'dd'.

In your reply you say that Fair Hill Road is 'in the Cladagh'. Is Cladagh a district of modern day Galway City and in the past (say 1877) would  Cladagh have been a separate place?

I see you are a new member to Rootschat so welcome to the message board

Sorry, it is "Claddagh". While it was referred to as the Claddagh Village in the past I know it was part of Galway city in 1840. This link has a picture of Fairhill Rd and a list of residents from about 1895. http://www.advertiser.ie/galway/article/54646/lower-fairhill-road-c1895
