Hi All

I am trying to find the parents of George Turner - he married Isabella Lidster in St Pauls, Jarrow in 1815 so presume he was born 1780-1790. He was a gardener so this could also have been the trade of his father. I have only been able to find 1 child Mary born 1816 in S.Shields.
I have found 1 possible set of parents John + Jane nee Stafford married 22/4/1780 in Jarrow and also baptisms for their children all at St Hilda S.Shields George June 1785, Deborah Jan 1788, William April 1792, Stafford June 1797 but none show John's trade.

Does anyone have any idea where I may find John's trade or whether there any other possible parents - as far as I'm aware George was born in S.Shields

Have you found George on any census? If he lived long enough to be on the 1851 census you should be able to confirm his year & place of birth which would help confirm if you have the right baptism.

A ROBT Turner was a Witness at the 1815 marriage.

Re 1851c - I found a marriage notice for George's daughter Mary in 1836 which stated that her father was deceased
Re Robert Turner as witness - I know very little of this family; I would surmise this could be a brother or cousin but that is a piece of the jigsaw still to be fitted!
