SINNERTON Census
« on: Wednesday 26 October 16 13:38 BST (UK) »
Hi there.

I have two marriages of brothers  William and Joseph SINNERTON
Joseph March 1853 Barony Glasgow.
William Dec 1861 Coatbridge.

They are children of William SINNERTON and Jane LYNAM.

The 1871 Census shows all being born in Northern Ireland.
But I cannot see them in the census before 1871.
Can anyone see them ?

Bearing in mind the different spellings of the surname.
Swinnerton, Sunerton ,Sonerton.

Thanks,
bswinno.

Hi ,

Were Joseph and William coal miners ?

The 1851 Census transcription on FreeCEN has Joseph SOONERTON age 22 coal miner born Ireland , with younger brother William age 13 and mother Jane age 45(widowed).
Blair Street , Old Monkland , Lanarkshire.

Yes thats correct William married RebeccaDocherty 1861.
The problem that I have is taking this family back to Northern Ireland.
I know that they came from Co Down. But was not sure when.
The 1851 census has now shown that their mother Jane Lynam was
widowed by 1851.

Family transcribed on Ancestry as Loonerton  ???
Have you tried looking for a death or maybe another marriage for the mother on Scotlands People providing she died after 1855 which would give you her parent's names if known

There is a death for a Jane Sinnerton in Old Monkland 1877 aged 75 might be worth a try on
