Old Kirkyards near Allangrange, Black Isle
« on: Sunday 30 October 16 03:35 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
Would anyone direct me to where I could find the names of some kirkyards near Allangrange Mains, Black Isle, Ross-shire, used in the early to mid-1800s?  Would any of these have free transcriptions available online?
Many Thanks,
Jean

I typed up a response earlier but lost it all, so here is a recap of what I wrote ....

Allangrange Mains was a farmstead. It appears to still be in existence.

Google will help you locate it. NLS maps are very good and show quite a lot of detail, so you might like to have a scroll around to see what Kirkyards you can find in the vicinity.

I believe this is the right parish:

There are some links on there to church records and maps which may help you. Example of a map which may be the right sort of area:

Scotland's People would be the place for parish records, and perhpas you might get lucky on Familysearch. Once you have located a Kirk/yard, a google search for the church name and "parish records" might locate something free available online.

The closest cemeteries I know of to Allangrange would be:
Munlochy (If it's old enough),
Tore (definitely not old enough),
Suddie Old Churchyard, KNOCKBAIN
Kilmuir Old Churchyard, KNOCKBAIN,
Killearnan Parish Churchyard, KILLEARNAN
