I've heard of Scottish fishing boats being sunk by U-boats in WWI before, but not of the fishermen being taken back to Germany.

This is lovely, thanks so much for sharing.  I work locally, and by coincidence, last week we had a Mr Cargill in for repairs to his boat, so the tradition lives on.
