Suggestion to identify new topics
« on: Sunday 30 October 16 12:17 GMT (UK) »
Just thinking as I was looking through all the unread posts how helpful it would be to be able to whittle them down a little.

If the Scottish ones were tagged blue for example and the Irish green, Welsh red it would flag up those cases to the people with more expertise in those areas.

Just a thought  :)

On the other hand . . . .

If Scottish posts were posted under "Scotland", Irish posts under "Ireland", and Welsh posts under "Wales" that would make it easier to find them?! ;D ;D

Well yes of course one can look under the specific location sections  :-[ but I always start at the "unread posts" which can be about anything, anytime, anywhere  ;D

I also 'log in' to the unread posts each day.  To reduce what I am looking at I have now started going down the list and putting a marker alongside the ones I am not likely to look at and then selecting 'ignore topic'   That way I do not have those posts reappearing  every time some one posts on them and I end up with a manageable ongoing list of topics which I could be interested in.

Another tip:

Click on the Board name (I do this with Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs) and then click on "Mark Read".

That way I don't get to see them again :D

So do I, but it does say which board they are on, so I skip past Irish, (for example) as I have no knowledge or experience of Irish research.

Make the list easier to quickly scan by putting the location first in bold type face followed by the poster's name in italics.  Surely the name of the original poster is the least important piece of information.
