John Chapman and wife Ruth.
« on: Monday 31 October 16 22:42 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find the maiden surname of Ruth born abt 1785, from Bristol who married John Chapman (Possibly middle name Benjamin), born 1780, from Finsbury, Middlesex. John became a goldsmith. Children with  birth year:- Jane 1810, William 1814, Eliza 1819, Sarah 1821. Imagine wedding would be around 1801-1809. I know there is not much evidence to help and this is a long shot, but there is a possibility of a marriage in Gloucestershire. If not I will try Middlesex.

Hi, the only John Chapman marriage I could find:

21 May 1807  St. George the Martyr, Queen Square, Borough of Camden

to Ruth Escombe.  Bachelor & Spinster, both of this parish, both appear to have signed.

Witnesses: W Escombe & Sarah Escombe

Thanks so much Pheno. You seem to have hit the bulls eye first time. Their daughter Jane Chapman, on my tree, married a William Escombe. So seems to be another case of marrying close to the family!!
