Thomas Havelock 1763-1845
« on: Wednesday 02 November 16 08:52 GMT (UK) »
I will post this enquiry on this board and also Durham. I am looking for the father of Thomas Havelock born Guisborough 20th April 1763.  That is if I am able to establish if I have the correct Thomas Havelock who married Sarah Brown (b1766)  in Sunderland on the 5th Nov in 1787.
Thomas Havelock and a Sarah had as far as I can tell three daughters and a son all born in Sunderland, Durham.
Sarah Havelock b 1790
Marie Havelock b 1792
Margaret (Peggy) Havelock b1794 d1875
Thomas Havelock b1799 d 1850
Margaret (Peggy) Havelock married William Potts. She was referred to in write ups on Sunderland as Peggy Potts with a history of smuggling. It is also written that she was second cousin to Sir General Henry Havelock.
However unless I can confirm that I have the correct Thomas Havelock and his father I cannot move on with this line and I am struggling.  I wonder if anyone on her has this information on their tree please?  I have searched and searched without finding confirmation.  Any help would be appreciated please.

Hi
I saw your enquiry last night and it has had me thinking.

Thomas who married Sarah Brown was born in 1764. His father was George born 1726 who married Sarah Walker in 1747. Thomas and Sarah had nine children, one of whom was Margaret born 12th August 1796. She married William Potts 9th May 1814 and had ten children eight daughter and two sons.

I am descended from George and Sarah's son John who was born in 1766.

I can tell you more, but it would be easier if I know whereabouts you live and what your email address is.

All the best

Mike Havelock
