William Davies born about 1791
« on: Wednesday 02 November 16 09:09 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Wondering if someone could be kind enough to look up a baptism for William Davies born about 1791 in Dagenham.

The 1851 Census appears to say he was from Dagham or Dayham, Essex.   The closest place I can find that this might be is Dagenham.   (If someone thinks there's a possible alternative then please advise.)

Thank you in advance.

The census has Dagenham written as Dagnem, as someone in 1851, and today, would pronounce it.

For some reason I can't add an attachment.  He's on the 1851 UK Census in St Mary, Dover.  His wife Sarah and children Charles, John, Sarah and Amelia are on the same census.

There's a William Henry Davis baptised 19/7/1789 in Romford. Lots of people from Dagenham were baptised in Romford at that time. Parents were John and susannah. Siblings: susannah 1790, Charles William 1792, james 1793 and Thomas 1794.
Jamiesons, Martins and McGonigals of Coleraine, Londonderry
and
Cullens, Grahams and Challenors of Dublin county and city.

They were all baptised at St Edward the Confessor Church Romford, no address or fathers profession given.
The William mentioned is William Henry Davies bap 19 July 1789

Thank you very much nannyj and amondg for finding the right parish for the baptism.  Greatly appreciated.  Also thank you to everyone else that looked or provided possible clues etc.
