Ince of Farndon and Handley
« on: Wednesday 02 November 16 20:29 GMT (UK) »
William Ince  was a tailor,  he and wife Elizabeth had sons   George born c 1789 and Thomas  born c  1791 at Handley. Both sons became tailors .
George had a son William  born c 1826 Handley  who moved to Farndon and  also was a tailor.

Is this William, was he a tailor.
Wm. Ince    Marriage     04 Feb 1788    Doddleston, Cheshire.
Spouse's Name    Eliz. Aldersay
This is the only marriage I have found, but am not sure. I also can`t be sure which burials at Handley are William and Elizabeth because I am not sure of his age.

I`m wondering if these are ancestors of William,  mainly because of the link with Handley and Farndon,  but Thomas a clerk  seems to be the odd one out.
THOMAS  INCE  FARNDON Occupation:  TAILOR 1694:
THOMAS  INCE  HANDLEY Occupation:  CLERK 1766

Without being able to see the parish records, it`s difficult to  sort  it out. I only use Anc.
Can anyone help please.

1788 marriage - William is from Doddleston and is a "Taylor".  Elizabeth is also from Doddleston.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks for that,

I now need  Williams  burial and age possibly in Handley,  (for birth ) and then find his baptism  and hopefully see if father  also was a tailor.

I can only find one William Ince buried in Handley and unfortunately all it gives is the name and date of burial, which was 4 October 1809 - no age or occupation.

I can only find one Elizabeth Ince birial which fits but she was buried in Tattenhall so she may not be yours

Elizabeth Ince age 67 (this gives birth year of 1759) buried 5 November 1826

No burials in Handley , only one in Farndon in 1806 for an Elizabeth wife of John

OK, Thanks for looking, of course they may have moved elsewhere.
Ince is such a common name in Cheshire so it`s difficult when you get further back and there is less detail

With some help I`ve found a little more, but am still trying to connect Thomas Ince, tailor with William Ince also a tailor in Handley.

Thomas Ince was a tailor , he  was buried 10 May 1694 at Farndon.
Will of 5 May 1694
He  names his wife Alice / Alis.
He has possibly been married before to an Ellenor.
Ellenor Ince Death 12 Mar 1660 Farndon  Spouse's Name  Tho. Ince
Both marriages not found.

All  sons  baptised at Farndon.

Eldest son Thomas Ince bapt  Nov 1645 parents Thomas and Ellenor.
William Ince  bapt 16 Aug 1651 parents Thomas and Ellenor  Not named in will. Possibly died
John Ince  bapt 05 Dec 1667 Parents Thomas and Alice.
Charles Ince  bapt 24 Jul 1670 Parents Thomas and Alice.

Alice Ince   Burial    19 Dec 1702    Farndon.
