Alverstoke marriage records?
« on: Thursday 03 November 16 07:50 GMT (UK) »
I'm interested in seeing a record of a marriage in the 19th century in Alverstoke.  Apart from ordering an actual marriage certificate (which is a transcription) is there a way to see a record of this marriage please?

This marriage is in England Select Marriages.

Your profile does not state where in the world you are located    ???

Your local LDS family history centre  :-\

The England Select marriages entry should give the film number from which the marriage transcript was taken.

I'm getting quite a list of finches I'd like to view.

Thank you for the website bearkat.   It is the marriage of Henry Johnston to Margaret German that I'm looking for.  The site has a few Germans in the area that could be her relatives.

Thank you vengeur.

I'm interested in the occupation of the groom's father and whether the groom is recorded as a widower.  One of their descendants has contacted me and I'm trying to confirm that Henry Jnr is the brother of our ancestor, which he well could be.

If so this is wonderful news as we don't know what happened to any of her siblings other than the three that died before 1809.  Her brother Henry did join the RN and married in the 1830s.

There is a researcher on the familytreeforum genealogy site who does look-ups in the  Alverstoke / Gosport area. You simply need to register with this forum and from the landing page click on Research Requests and then post under the Look ups offered in Alverstoke/Gosport thread.
