census address

Hi, does anyone know how to decipher which house the enumerator is referring to in the early census returns? I am trying to research the previous residents of the house I live in and although the street name remains the same there are no numbers!!!! Any help much appreciated.

Sometimes it can be very difficult to pinpoint specific houses.

Look at the pages either side, and look out for specific landmarks (Pubs, large houses that are named, churches etc) that are named.    Look at the first page of the census schedule that describes the enumerators route - bear in mind he may not have followed it in the same order as listed.
But, in the case of a just a long list of households , all just "the village" or " London Road" then it will be impossible to match individual households with individual houses accurately.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex
