"Clinical" in Sponsor column in a Baptism entry
« on: Friday 04 November 16 14:32 GMT (UK) »
I've found the image for a baptism in Kimberley (via Family Search) - 16 October 1888 for Joseph Cecil Mee.  In the column headed "Sponsors, or (in the case of Adults) Witnesses" is written Clinical.  The same word is used for the next baptism, the others on the page give names.

Does anyone know what this might signify?

Many thanks

Pure guess - maybe an "emergency" baptism in a hospital by hospital chaplain on duty with no godparents/sponsors/whatever present?
