Missing 2nd Great Granny Hitchcock
« on: Friday 04 November 16 18:34 GMT (UK) »
My father's cousin in Canada has gotten in touch lately and she is confusing me a little.

My great great grandfather is was an Edward C Hitchcock b. 1876 in Kirkwall Orkney Scotland. His father was born in Oxfordshire but more as he worked for the British Telecommunications.

My dad's cousin is telling me that Edward married a lady whom had been married once before but I can't even find a marriage? I would guess that Edward would of got married in Evesham or Pershore area.  Any help would be appreciated and I'll provide what I can. thanks

Is this the Edward C who was born in Scotland who was supposed to have married this lady? Is it a second marriage, or earlier marriage ie other than the one to your great great grandmother?

When did he marry her? Was he widowed or a bachelor?

The birth cert of their child who is your great grandparent should give her maiden name
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

I have an Emily Harris as his wife but that's it. I checked FreeBMD and there is no mothers Maiden name transcribed for my great grandfather Violet May Hitchcock, Evesham 1906.

The cousin is also telling me Violet had a brother William? I can't find that either...lol

Maiden names are not given in the index prior to 1911

You would need to get a copy of her birth cert.

Have you got Violet and her family on 1911 census?

If you look for William Harris in 1911 you should find him with his grandparentsmother   :)
