His birth/marriage/death are all as Sydney E (Edward) Wilson, not Sidney.

Annette

In that case, his mother's maiden name was Hopper.

Thank you all for looking. I went to the library this morning to search the 1939 census and found  Sidney and Eileen living in Histon near Cambridge. Wilson had been transcribed as Wilsoni  ?? He was born 27 Nov 09 and a George V Wilson  3 Feb 1912 was living next door.  George V Willson (two L's)  birth was registered Chesterton (Cambridge 1912). Still can't find Sidney in 1911. ???

Thank you all again

Bob

A bit of a long shot here ...........

But what if the enumerator had made an error, it's not unknown to happen.

1911

Moderator comment: 1911 census details removed. The 1911 policy here hasn't changed. Please do not post information that is not available from the free indexes

Apologies - my mistake  :-[

Sydney Edward Wilson was born 27/11/1909 - birth reg'd Mar.1910 Wharfedale.   His parents were James Wilson and Minnie Hopper married shortly before he was born.   His Christian names are mistranscribed on Ancestry in 1911.

There is no trace of this person dying in the Yorkshire area and I am sure he is the one who ended up in Cambridgeshire.

With a common name like Wilson it is easy to make a mistake.   The only way to be certain is to purchase the birth certificate.

Hi Bob, did Sydney work for Chivers Jam in Histon? As I see via google that they had/may still have, a distribution centre in Bradford approx 7 miles from where the family were living in Horsforh(Leeds), maybe he moved to the main factory?

Thanks for that. It was a lot of money to leave in 1955.
