Whitehead in Yorkshire
« on: Sunday 06 November 16 15:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,  I have been looking for years to find my 3rd g-grandparents, Charles Whitehead & Charlotte Wilson's marriage.  He was born between 1811-13 according to censuses and in one census is said to have been born in Hull, Yorkshire.  They married before 1834, when their first child, Hannah, was christened in Sheffield, Yorkshire. He was a plumber & glazier in all censuses, so must have been apprenticed at some time or other. Charlotte was born 180-11 in Caistor, Linc.  The family was in Liverpool by 1842 when their 4th child was born, where he died in 1865 .  I have found a Charles Whitehead, son of George Whitehead and Hannah Gill. Both of these names are significant to the family - first daughter is named Hannah and first son (my 2nd GG) is named George.  However without a marriage record I'm stumped. Any help with finding their marriage would be greatly appreciated.

The 1861 entry shows a married daughter Alice McKay aged 34 (1827) born Sheffield which puts any marriage much earlier than 1834 but does not fit with the ages of Charles (50) and Charlotte (51)

I wonder if Alice's age was wrong in 1861  ???

They were in Liverpool on 1841 census with daughter Alice age 4.
Alice was baptised on the same day as Sarah (10 Aug 1842)  Alices date of birth 15 Mar 1836

There is an 1860 marriage for Alice Whitehead to Donald McKay at Our Lady & St. Nicholas & St. Anne in Liverpool.

The 2 McKay grandchildren aged 5 and 2 threw me as I assumed any marriage would be before 1860
