       Re: A*try transcription, 1851 Census. Melville/McPherson family, Collessie, Fife.
     A*try often name an unmarried daughter living at home as the mother of any grandchildren in the household and they are wrong to do so. Census Returns only give the relationship of each person to the Head of the household, in this case to David Melville. A*try is wrong to assume Grace Melville is the mother of these 3 children. (Complicated enough family without A* adding to it!)
       Re: 1851 Census. Adamson family, Forth Iron Works, Carnock, Fife.
    Thomas Adamson age 16? Son born Carnock. I think Thomas' age may be a transcription error for 16months. He is likely to be the same Thomas Adamson age 13 Son born Carnock, on the 1861 Census.

Thomas was married twice, firstly to Elizabeth McPherson, who was illegitimate, reputed father - Duncan McPherson and mother Margaret McLuille (?) afterwards Fotheringham.
