Does anyone know exactly where "Carglass" was located in Elginshire? I think it was in the parish of Knockando. Thanks.

No. The Conglass Water rises in the hills above the Well of the Lecht http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3574243 and meanders north-west round the east side of Tomintoul under Conglass Bridge then enters the River Avon near Dalvrecht http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1967712, all in the parish of Kirkmichael in Banffshire. There are a Glenconglass Farm and Glenconglass Cottage http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NJ1722

Carglass will be Corglass which is indeed in the parish of Knockando in Moray.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thanks to Forfarian for the links and to Skoosh for the suggestion. Corglass was the place of baptism for an ancestor, William Smith, in 1782.
