I would love him to be alive, not in a home and not suffering Dementia. He could perhaps solve the mystery.

OK I have found one sloppy ish v in over. Extrapolate that to Franks name and you could imagine that r was a v. Takes a lot of imagination but it is possible.
Also right at the end he writes . " come to think of it- Aunts in Wellington could have been married to one of the Gilligan boys ? ?"
Those Aunts could have ONLY been the widows of the Gilligan boys.  Back then people dropped like flys.  From 1889 till 1922 is plenty of time to have lost another husband and remarried a third time.
Off to BMD I go.

Hi Hugh

I've done a fairly comprehensive search of various types of records, and haven't (apart from one name which it transpires was an error), come across a surname "WEARER".

I've also checked electoral listings for a "Frank or Francis" with surname similar in spelling and sound to "WEARER".   All to no avail.

As you're not able to say, scan the letter in which this name appeared, are you able to maybe add a little more of the message in which the name is mentioned ... or disclose which branch of your family the letter recipient was from ?

Hi again...

Have checked Births fiche and there was a female WEARE birth in Petone (1919) and in Wellington (1920 and 1923). A male WEARE birth in Wellington (1922) but not by the name of Francis/Frank.

Three daughters and a son maybe.

Will PM the names if you want.

Regards
Beg

The letter was written by my Father in respose to a Layburn cousin at the beginnings of the cousins journey looking at the Layburns and Gilligans. He concentrated on the Layburn side and the name list alone fills 13 pages of A4. Took me weeks to load the tree onto my geni tree. He sent me a copy of the letter recently in response to a question regarding our mutual White relatives who lived in the Hutt with my Fathers Fletcher family.
minniehaha asked me about my scanning ability. Not a go I am afraid to say.

Thanks Beg Clonrade. Yes please.  BUT Having gone back and back to the letter, it is possible that the name is weaver .Not because it looks like weaver, but due to it most likely HAVING to be weaver. It WAS my first thought when wearer was going no where.
