Death of Joseph Steel 1849 Brampton
« on: Thursday 10 November 16 19:26 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Thanks to the new gro index, it has been easier to locate any children whom may have been born and died between the census entries without purchasing the certificates.

According to it, Joseph Steel was born in 1849 in Brampton, his mother being surnamed Harris.

Because he is not with the family in 1851 and the fact that a Joseph Steel is born in 1851, it means that he passed away between 1849 and 1851.

The only possibility is in June 1850, but the gro index give a death of 10. Is this ten years or ten months?

thanks

No age shown on the GRO index - where did you get 10 from?

I found this on another forum which was discussing the new facility

There is one little hitch that I've noticed ......

...... baby's age can be wrong on a death certificate if under one. The death certificate gives the age in months, but the digitised version seems to only be able to show years ........ so an 8 month old seems to have died at age 8
