Another sibling - David Syme Haliburton (b. 30 Dec 1869, Orwell, Kinross to Ralph Haliburton and Jane Mulherron). Arrived in Queensland on the Taroba, 14 Jan 1889; married Emma Brieske in 1899 in NZ;  died Auckland, NZ, 1912.

You can find Jane Mulherron on www.findagrave.com ..you can request a photo of her grave providing there is a grave stone (Orwell Church Yard )

Going by all the records of baptism's for their children her name always appears as Jane  Mulherron ..Most probably transcription error

Hi all. After reading all of your replies I'm beginning to think that the maiden name was a transcription error at some point, rather a large one but too many things connect. So will try working from the NZ end using all the info you have all provided. Will keep you posted. Thanks so much.

Errors on certificates may be the registrar mis-hearing rather than a mistranscription.  I can easily see Mullholland coming from Mulherron if the registrar was slightly deaf or the informant mumbled and the registrar hadn't heard an uncommon surname like Mulherron before.
