Hi,

From FreeBMD.org.uk:

Marriages, March qtr 1933
Blackburn Registration District     vol 8e, page 471

Hamer, George   to  Gregory, Gertrude E

Lancs BMD shows the above marriage to have taken place at  Immanuel Church, Oswaldtwistle.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

The 1939 National Register (available on FindMyPast) has, on their free index search, George & Gertude living in Oswaldtwistle.
George states he was born in 1914 ;D

Mother's  maiden name Eglin.

There's a marriage in Q4 of 1904 at Church Kirk of John Thomas Gregory to Amelia Challioner. Seems a good bet.

Amelia is on the same 1939 sheet as the Hamers.

LancashireBMD has George's birth indexed twice :-\

Once with Mother's Maiden name = Eglin.
Once with her name as Cross.  Both have the same reference.

Marriage, September qtr 1912
Haslingden Reg. District     vol 8e, page 308

Hamer, William H
Cross, Mary E
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

On Lancashire BMDs, there are 2 entries for George Hamer s birth 1914, same reference but different mothers surname....Eglin/Cross
So a possible marriage in 1912 Preston for a William Henry Hamer and Mary Emma Cross.
Only a possibility, you would need certificates to substantiate our theories :) :)
