Did it mention the parents of James Moffat who died 1857 ? Few tree's with William Moffat and Christian Fraser no mention of a wife ...only one tree with John Moffat married to Mary Burnie

Have you found James in the 1841 /1851 census ?
Rosie

They are James's parents.

James MOFFAT's parents were William MOFFAT (my GGG Grandfather) and Christian Moffat(Fraser).  Christian is the way her name has been spelt.

They are on James's death entry 1857, as deceased. I haven't been able to get their death entry due to there being no Annan BMD before 1855.
No, I haven't found James on either 1841 or 1851 census.

Does anyone know where Bank Street is. Would like to see where the Shoemaker's shop was, in the early 1800's

William Moffat, a blacksmith at Annan, left a testament, confirmation granted 12 May 1851.  Maybe this is James's father?  Although on a second look, this William might have been married to a Janet in 1841  :-\

Thank you for that information. That would have been interesting but I have seen the MI's for this William MOFFAT married to a Janet Irving on the 28 July 1805,Annan.

This is where I get a tad confused  :-\ as there couldn't be two William MOFFAT's blacksmiths in Annan.

My GGG Grandfather William MOFFAT was married to a Christain FRASER September, 1796, Annan and, had a son James. On James's death entry 1857 - his parents were deceased. William's parents were James MOFFAT  and Catherine DALGLEISH.
