I can see several sets of semi-detached houses on an old map. The are all called 'something Cottages'. In the middle of them is a pair called 'Hacklaw'. I wonder if this is your 'Hawklaw Cottages'.

You will have to use the - sign on the left of the map to zoom out.

I'm fairly sure these are Hawklaw cottages. Found by using Streetview to "walk" along the road.

On the map these are called 'Woodlands'  :-\

This is what I have.
Death registration. John Joseph Gregory died  December 4th 1929 at the Coastguard Station, Cruden Bay. He  a coastguard. The informant was T Underhill  who was a neighbour.

Scotland National Probate.
John Joseph Gregory of Coastguard Station, Port Errol, Cruden bay.
Intestate confirmation Aberdeen 17th July 1930 to Cissie Ince or Gregory, Hawklaw Cottage, Woodside Road, Cruden Bay the relict.

Cruden valuation rolls 1930.
Cissie is at The Garden, Slains Castle, Cruden Bay. She is a tenant.
There are quite a few people at Slains, even though it is described as ruinous on the entry for the proprietor who was Patrick W M Lang , a plumber.

So did Cissie move shortly after the 17th July ?
The assessor had to draw up a valuation roll by 15 August each year, to allow appeals by any owners and occupiers who disputed the rateable values by 15 September following. Once the appeal process had ended, the resulting roll was authenticated and was made available for public inspection.

The maps were a great help.
Using the 1986 map, there are Dumbuy Cottages, Hawklaw, and 3 others, all are semi detached.  in total.
I searched for Errollston Road on Google maps and found this which is the result I was getting before.
Now you can see the name of the first houses, which  is Dunbuy Cottages, so Hawklaw should be the one next in the row. 5 in all. Unfortunately there are no names on the others.
I think Hawklaw  are the ones by the bus stop - love the horse and cart on the lawn.  :)

Thanks a lot .
