Hello There,
The above person was one of my 3x Great Grandads. He had formerly been a Farmer in previous Censuses, at Deepdale Farm, Barton Upon- Humber. He was born in Wootton. He was actually baptised in 1809. But this 1861 Census had his birth year down as 1813.
What I would like to know please, is does anyone know exactly where this Bailiff House was at the time in Melton Ross? The full address on the Census was: "Higher Wood Bailiff House, Melton Ross, Glanford Brigg". Could it possibly be where the current "Tom Woods" Brewery stands please?
I know this might be a long shot, but it would just be nice to know, thanks. :)
Also, does anyone have an idea about what George's role would have been/ if this was a well paid job compared to other jobs at the time?

Any information would be gratefully accepted.

Thank you very much. :)

Where were his neighbours living from the census addresses?

According to "FreeCen":
There was an Agricultural Labourer living at: "High Road Side", on the "Next Household" along from George. The Neighbour on the other side (previous household from George) was a: "John Uffleby Smith" aged 36. He was a: " High Bailiff County Court". If you scroll forwards or backwards (can't remember which) from George's address, you come across a Barton Lane, and a Bull Close Lane, so these must have been quite close by.

Thank you very much. :)

George was still a Farm Bailiff in the 1871 Census. In that Census he was at: "Barton Road, Melton Wood" according to "FreeCen" again.
Cheers. :)
