Caerwys
« on: Monday 21 November 16 19:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I need to call upon the services and expertise of my friends on RootsChat yet again!
My mother (maiden name Margaret Enid Jones) lived in Caerwys in 1931 where her father (Isaac Alun Jones) was a grocer.
She also got married to her first husband 17 June 1931 at The Church of St Michael.
Does anyone have any further information on where my Taids shop was or the address at where they lived in Caerwys? Does anybody have any old photos of the area at about 1931?

Just for information, mum was born at The Berwyn Stores, Llangollen 23 September 1910.
Thanks,

John

Are you getting a bit confused with the nameplace here?I have a hunch with you saying that she was born in Llangollen that the place you may be referring to is in fact Corwen? Both places were at one time in the old county of Denbighshire.

Looking up  the 1931 marriage the place in fact should be Caerwys.

(Isaac Alun Jones)

Do you mean Isaac Alan Jones born 1882 Corwen Merionethshire?

Isaac Alan Jones December qtr 1882  Corwen 11b    340

Living in Llangollen Merionethshire in 1911 as Alun Jones.  The address on your mothers birth cert would suggest that was the grocers shop

If your grandparents were still alive in 1939 - have you looked for them on the 1939 register

Sorry, yes its a typo. It should read Caerwys.
Taid (Isaac Alun Jones) was born in Corwen in 1882 but moved to LLangollen where he managed a shop in the early 1900s called The Berwyn Stores.
He must have moved to Caerwys at about 1920ish as my mothers marriage certificate (1931) has her address as a ????? Stores Caerwys. But that's where the trail dries up?

Can you post a snapshot of address, when your mother married?

It may help track down, if we can view address on marriage cert

What year did your grandfather die?   I suspect his death may have been registered as Alun - not Isaac
