You folks are awesome. Thank you ;D . It seems like this quite a common surname in Wales. I have every bit of the UK DNA wise in me. Looking forward to finding more out.

I would not say this surname is common in Wales, or for where you seek, Denbigh.  I think it stems from John Bland, possibly the father of Matilda.

No paper confirmation this is just a connection. Be wary, you need more to confirm you are in the right family!

There are quite a few around, and also name variations in transcriptions. It`s possible Matilda is in one of the registers not transcribed by Jill yet.

Marriage;
01 Dec 1836, Parish Church, Denbigh, Denbighshire
Robert ROBERTS to Matilda BLAND
I am not sure if you noticed but in 1851 Census Robert/Matilda and Children are in Vale Street.

1841 Census at same address it appears that Robert is down as John, age 20, occp Painter;
Matilda Roberts, 30
John Roberts, 20, Painter

I`m not sure if there is any other mention of Robert being a painter on his marriage entry.
The newspaper report confirms it. Sadly no other names in the report.

Thanks again everyone. I have seen the painter reference. His son Maurice who I am related through, was a painter/house decorator.
