William Ramsay Ferguson Young, 1920-2003
« on: Saturday 26 November 16 07:06 GMT (UK) »
Hi folks,

In 1954, William RF Young, under the name "Scotty Young" co-wrote a book about his adventures in an RAF Special Duties bomber squadron, during the war. The book was called "Descent into Danger" and apart from some obvious porkies is a good read.

Mr. Young died 29 June 2003 in Leven, Fife. I am trying to fill in the blanks of his life and I do understand that the names of the living cannot be posted here.

For starters, whom would I have to speak to about obtaining an obituary notice?

Many thanks in advance.

https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search/site/index.aspx

He appears to have been born 1920 in Partick, Glasgow GRO Reference 644/22378 and reference for his death, East Neuk, Fife 414/61.

Neither are viewable on line yet, you would probably need to order them direct.

I guess you could ask try the Fife Family History Society, I know they are on Facebook, haven't checked if they have a separate website.  Good luck with your search.

P.S.  Have you posted anything on the WW2Talk website?  Lots of knowledgeable folk there too.

Thanks so much, amberdog. My apologies for only answering now. I accidentally turned off email notifications here.

I will have to look into WW2Talk. Thank you so much for the tip.
