I looked at the 1891 census in Malvern and wasn't sure, his father was from Armagh, would he be a gentleman? He was a butler so maybe he thought he was!

The 1964 electoral register for 45 Kingshill Avenue, Kingston has Emily L Eager and two people surname Upton who were possibly the couple who married March qtr 1956 (Surrey Mid E)

Emily L Eager (nee Bush) married Nathaniel S Eager in 1925.  When Emily L Eager died in 1966 at Bristol the executor of her will was Lilian May Bush (spinster)

There are birth registrations for Eager mmn Standage on freebmd all before the 1938 female Standage.   Are you able to view the 1939 entry

I think it's most likely that William elaborated on his father's occupation.
