Biscuit Factories of Liverpool c1939 - Forbes St/Chatsworth St area
« on: Sunday 27 November 16 13:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone have local knowledge of the Forbes Street area (now gone I understand).  I have 2 young women in the 1939 Register (and others on the page) in the Forbes St and Chatsworth St area who were recorded as 'Chocolate Piper' and 'Icer Biscuit factory'.  What biscuit factories were in the area at the time?

cheers,

Kit

Wow, thanks HeatherJulie,

What a great company.  Sound a bit like the Cadbury family.  I currently live only about 10 miles from Leith, the origins of the Crawford Biscuit empire!

These ladies are only distantly related, but I do like to try and find out a bit more about individuals I find, but didn't know.

cheers,

Kit

Well spotted,  it's in the right area,  especially the mention of the "icing room",  they did not just make cream crackers  ;D ;D

There was a wonderful hoarding  on our. Way into town from Crosby that consisted of two representations of. Jacobs Cream crackers delivery vans, it was like in 3D. They were there for years

PS.   Remember Ken Dodd. Talking about the broken biscuit repair factory at Knotty Ash   >:(  ;D
