James Caampbell Cameron and wife Isabella Mooney
« on: Monday 28 November 16 11:08 GMT (UK) »
Where do people disappear to when they split up. This has been a brick wall for several years. James Campbell Cameron from Glasgow b. 1886 married Isabella McDonald Mooney b. 1893 in Drogheda Ireland in 1916. They had one son, Allan James Cameron born 1921 and they split five years later leaving Allan with an aunt to be brought up in Derry.

Neither of his parents were ever found after searching for several years. Where could they have gone?

James was born in Kinning Park, Glasgow 1886 and Isabella born Dunbartonshire 1893.
When their son Alan married in 1945 his father was dead, at least this was recorded on his marriage certificate.

I cannot access any details on my work PC but can do later.
However, I can assure you I have found nothing on their whereabouts.

Rosie17,
No other children.
Isabella was interested in dance and music and I was told travelled with various stage and dance companies.

James Cameron had several family members (brothers Alexander and William and sister Moyà Rock) who emigrated to sydney, Australia and died there. I often thought he may have followed, I never could find any leads there either.

Thanks anyway

When they married they were living in Palace Street, Drogheda, Co. Louth. They split up when Alan was about 6yrs old so that would be around 1926-27. Alan joined the Paratroopers and served in WW2 and settled in Aston-Under-Lyne.

I have one picture of him from when he was around ten years old and it is signed 'To Dad xxx' so this suggests to me that at this point in his life, his mother was either deceased already or he had no contact with her.
