Susan WARD of Alconbury/Alconbury Weston
« on: Wednesday 30 November 16 11:42 GMT (UK) »
My 5x great grandmother was a Susan Ward who married William Low in Alconbury Weston on 25 Sep 1825.

The couple had two children;

Sarah Low, baptised 27 Jan 1828, my 4x great grandmother who married Samuel Knighton.

Edward Low, baptised 18 Oct 1829.

Susan died before Edward's baptism, and was buried in Alconbury Weston on 31 May 1829. Her burial record now has her name as "Susanah" and her age is given as 23 years old, indicating a birth year of 1806.

I can't find a record for Susan's birth in the areas around Alconbury.

There is a baptism for a Susanna Ward born 1801 in Leighton Bromswold, but this Susanna appears to marry a Samuel Barfield in 1821.

I would like some advice on how to search further.

Thanks Margaret, I will look into these.

Doesn't say otp or list witnesses on the transcriptions on FreeReg or FamilySearch, this may require viewing the originals at Huntingdon.

I suppose that's what I was asking. Have you checked the original entry rather than an online transcript? When you're stuck there's no substitute for checking the original, or at least a microfilm copy, to get the extra detail that indexes or transcripts often do not provide.
