Charlotte Pearson b.1868

I'm looking for Charlotte Pearson b.1868. In 1889 she married William Terry. On her marriage certificate her father is named as John Pearson, tailor. On the 1189 she says she was born in America but is a British subject. On the 1911 census she says she was born in Lambeth. I can't find her in 1901 or before her marriage. If she WAS born in America, what was her father doing there? Can anybody help?

Sorry, that should read - In the 1891 census she says she was born in America. She married in Norwood, London.

I see that their son Walter's birth was registered in Lambeth district in Mar qtr 1901 so they should be in the area in that census.

One of the 1889 marriage witnesses was a John Pearson - have you managed to find anyone likely in the neighbourhood in 1891?

Yes, they are in Norwood in 1901: RG13/437/149/25.

If you are using Ancestry search for them as JERRY.

All with a Norwood birthplace, dittoed from William.

Thanks for the 1901 link. I'm assuming the John named on her marriage certificate was her father, but I can't find him being a tailor.
