Charles Wyatt of Glossop ships carpenter
« on: Friday 02 December 16 22:13 GMT (UK) »
After a long search I believe I have located my Charles Wyatt bC1833 Glossop.
Previously I found him mentioned in an 1859 newspaper report concerning a funeral for a dog at Glossop.I cannot find him on a Census 1851 or 1861.
I think he had joined the Royal Navy.
I have a record of ships postings showing his first warrant 9 Apr 1864 and service on Princess Royal , Volage , Hector , Bellerophon , Duke of Wellington , Temeraire and Anson.

He retired on account of age 1888.

Would there have been a retirement facility where I might find him?
I have not yet foud his demise.

I will be very appreciative if someone can help with further information.

With thanks.
Wyatt and Wood of Glossop, Derbyshire. Longstaff of Bishop Auckland,Durham. Harry of St Austell and St Kew,Cornwall. Charters of County Antrim.Knight of Warwickshire.Hendy of Ballyedmonduff.

Thanks keyboard86
That is him until I think I found him on Royal Navy records.
I am trying to establish what became of him.

I could not find him 1851 or 1861 but he was mentioned in a newspaper report 1859.
Now I think he joined the Navy and became a chief ships carpenter.

News item from 1859 which refers to an extra ordinary funeral in Glossop of a celebrated hound dog.
The dog was named "Gloria Scholes" .
Charles Wyatt drove the cart bearing the coffin.
