Burial location needed, prob Carmarthen
« on: Sunday 04 December 16 01:30 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find for a friend where her ancestor, Alexander Hughes, was buried; he lived in Carmarthen and the Carmarthen Journal published the funeral report on June 29th 1984, with full details of tributes and mourners, but no details of disposal. The undertakers have ceased trading; cremation is a possibility, but I am hoping that someone may have access to a Carmarthen cemetery MI list. Apologies if this is information that should be paid for; an annual subscription or CD seems a bit steep.

Exactly where in Carmarthen did he live/die?

Table 1B in the link below shows numerous areas covered by the Carmarthen RD

Thanks for your interest; perhaps the following may be of help. My friend thinks that St Peter's cemetery would be the most likely resting-place.

Alexander Hughes lived at 17A Russell Terrace, Carmarthen. The burial service took place at Priory Street chapel of rest, Carmarthen, on June 12th, the Rev. T. R. K. Goulstone, vicar of St Peter's, officiating. The floral tributes included one from the management and staff of Woolworth, Carmarthen, which implies that he had worked there sometime.
