Uppingham birth or baptism, 1780 - DARLING
« on: Sunday 04 December 16 18:24 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find confirmation of the birth or baptism of Charles Henry DARLING, son of Christopher and Ann Darling. I have found both given as 28 February 1780 in Uppingham, Rutland. Help or advice appreciated.

He is referred to as Henry Charles Darling both on familysearch

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JQNX-ZXB

and on Ancestry.

If you have a sub to Ancestry you will be able to see a copy of the bishops transcripts which is the source of the information. It seems Christopher was of the 45th Regiment according to the bishops transcripts
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.
