Yes, I'd seen that, too - but hadn't sep. it out from a couple of other possibles to be certain enough to suggest.
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)

Could just be a coincidence, I agree
there was a marriage between Ellen Leary and John Harrington at All Saints Fulham on 22 Nov 1829, witnesses Patrick Harrington and Mary Fleming. Bride, groom and witnesses all made their mark.

Has anyone found birth regs of John and James.
With such a big age gap, there is a possibility that John snr was widowed and remarried so Ellen not their mother.

I can't find a birth/baptism of James or John either.  (Edit - and James disappears post 1851??)   I thought possibly their mother had returned home to Wales as she was carrying twins??   It does look as though John Snr may well have been already widowed pre 1841 :-\

There is a John Harrington in Fulham, in 1841 with older (50) Mary H, probably mum, and children Patrick (1), and Mary (7). There's also in 1841 in Whitechapel a John Harrington (35) b 1806 Ireland, labourer,  with Ellen also 35 and born Ireland, are either of those any use?
Possibly sibling hunts may help?
Think Mary Modem may be same as Mary Harrington from ages.

Also at Hammersmith RC Mary d/o John Harrington and Ellen Lary born 10 Apr 1830 baptised 18 Apr 1830

John Harrington Snr and Ellen Leary's children have same names but ages both a bit out.

This is starting to become a fascinating hunt.... quite a lot of possibilities to explore, still.

I've been looking at anything that might help, the name Madden came up on a 1891 census and Margarete Harrington was living with Mary, wid, b. Ireland. in Fulham, could this be her mother? I had a message from an Ancestry member regarding Mary Harrington their daughter who said she married Henry Madden in 1884.  Thanks so much for your interest and help.
