Hi and welcome to RootsChat. :)

This is just one for the "maybe" pile but there's a baptism for a Caroline COOK in Stepingly born Jan 2,1795 parents Richard and Ann. The reason I mention it is because in 1841 there's a Rhuben(sic) COOK b 1826 living with the OLIVERs who just might be a son of Caroline's.

Tracing Reubn through later censuses, he was also born in Seppingly (like Caroline). He was a labourer then an oilman (paint). He married in London to Lydia Matilda Gibbons. Both just put "deceased" for fathers on marriage cert without giving a name for their fathers. So he could be illigitimate

I think she may be the Caroline baptised in Rotherhithe in 1801 and living in Bermondsey in 1841 with William and (probably) their children.

No it's not those two. They are my wife's ancestors. That William Oliver was born in Lambeth in 1802.

Hello Jacaranda & welcome to RootsChat

As per the Beds FHS Surnames index CD....

Caroline Cook spinster of Steppingly married at Westoning in 1823 by Licence

William Oliver bachelor of Westoning married at Westoning in 1823 by Licence

You need to look at the Westoning PR & the Licence Allegation transcripts for more details.

Also William Oliver of Flitwick was baptised at Maulden in 1789
Caroline Cook of Steppingly baptised at Ridgmont in 1795

I cannot see a baptism of Caroline Oliver in any year; there's a marriage in Maulden in 1847

The Marriage Licence Allegation is dated 26 May 1823 for marriage at Westoning of William Oliver, bachelor of Westoning to Caroline Cook, spinster of Steppingley. I would have expected the marriage to have taken place a few days after that.

Couldn't see either of their baptisms regardless of what the Beds FHS Surname Index said.
