Scotland BMD *COMPLETED THANKS*

Basic question sorry but i have very little experience of Scottish records. Just wondering if there is a Scottish equivalent to freeBMD as i'm looking for a family found in Middlesborough on the 1939 register but cannot find a marriage for the parents or the children's births and therefore no mother's maiden name. No indication that they went abroad so just wondering about Scotland..... 

Edited to add - i know about Scotland's people but they don't include maiden names do they?

Typically i have just found the birth of one of the children on Scotland's people (adding in a second name brought up the result) but no mother's maiden name. Not close enough to want to buy the cert 🙁

They do from 1929 on the in-house index, but you are not allowed to view this information online as it's less than 100 years ago.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

It's a bit hit-and-miss! If only everyone with spare certs would post details there, it would be much more useful.
