Hi my name is Clara, I am writing on behalf of my mother and my aunt who are in search of their British brother:
"Hello our names are Maria and Filomena Antenori and we are the daughters of the late Mr Giuseppe Antenori, son of Angelo Antenori, born in Venosa ( Potenza, Italy) on 4th May 1919.
Our father was taken prisoner by the British in the battle of Bardia during the Second World War, probably on 3rd January 1941, and was kept a prisoner in the UK until 1946.
We have been looking for some information about our father’s imprisonment for years. In particular we would like to find out the name of the family who owned the farm where my father worked between 1941 and 1946. Our father told us that he was treated very well and that he had a relationship with the farm owner, a Ms Barbara, from which a son was born.
In our father’s diary we read that on 11th October 1945, while attending a fair in Kendal, he
was kicked by a horse and was sent to hospital there for a long period of time.
We also know that he was imprisoned in the labour camps no. 104 Beela River, Milnthorpe, Westmorland (identification number: 118160) and no.76 Merry Thought Camp, Calthwaite, Penrith, Cumberland (probably Plumpton). We obtained this information from the notes our father wrote on a photo he sent to his parents and from some documents presently kept at Potenza Military District.
Our father was very discreet when talking about our British brother, but we found the draft of a letter he had addressed to Ms Barbara, which proved that even after his repatriation he had kept a correspondence with her. In the above mentioned letter he enquired after Barbara and their son’s health and referred to a certain “Wailet Tomson”(?).
From oral sources we have learned that our father emigrated to Switzerland in 1960, lived there for about 20 years and kept his ties with his British family without us knowing, as he did not want to disturb our family balance.
In addition we remember to have heard a few times a name (Robert?), But this information is really unreliable.
The only aim of our search is to find out the identity of our British brother, if he is still alive, as we consider him a bond with our father. We are writing to ask for your help in this difficult search: a positive outcome could make our wish come true and possibly make also our British stepbrother happy. We would like you to share with us any information that may help us to trace our father’s British family: addresses, telephone numbers, email or Facebook contacts."
