Thomas Kiernan
« on: Thursday 08 December 16 23:32 GMT (UK) »
My great great great grandfather ,Thomas Kiernan, migrated to Australia in 1840 aboard the Mary Dugdale. He came with his Father,Thomas, mother ? And three siblings Anne,Mary and John.
On the register of emigrant labourers they are listed coming from Castleton,Castlepollard. I have Thomas ( the father) being born 1788,Granard. To John Kiernan and Elizabeth Monaghan.
I found a Thomas ,son of Thomas Kiernan and Bridget Morris ,born in Castlepollard,June 10,1829
And Anne, daughter of Thomas Kiernan and Bridget Morris, born June 24,1818
Can anyone help me confirm that I have the correct Thomas Kiernan

Thankyou for the info. Would love to know the name of the wife. I've been told Bridget. That's why I thought I'd found the correct Thomas born June 10th 1829 to a Thomas Kiernan and Bridget Morris.

have a look at this sight

http://www.castlepollard.ie

then click on History

This sight tells you all about Castlepollard

mentions the Massacre at Castlepollard 1831 were a few people were killed by the police, including a Mary and Tomas Kiernan

Also you can ask this site.

If you are related to these above mentioned people I wonder if that why Thomas and his family left Ireland
